Planning your wedding is a HUGE and SUPER exciting time! Even with all the excitement, it can be a little overwhelming. Especially when it comes to finding, booking, and trusting your vendors. You’re going to be coordinating for months with so many different people. It’s important to cover your bases at the beginning to make sure your big day is smooth sailing! To be a helping hand, I’ve put together a little list of important things to consider when looking for your wedding photographer!

LET'S BE FRIENDS!

This one deserves to be #1 on the list. You should have a great vibe going with your photographer! You’ll spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than you will with your spouse. So why spend such special time with someone that doesn’t feel like a friend?! Being able to ask a quick question, chit chat about ideas, or even vent about the one person in the wedding party who is driving you B-A-N-A-N-A-S, thats the level of comfortability you want. Especially when it comes to trusting someone with such a monumental day!

YOUR STYLE

What is YOUR photography style? Do you like timeless and natural, dark and moody, or light and airy? Personally, I’m a timeless and natural gal! It’s my job to only enhance the beauty and colors that already exist, but that’s me! That’s the great thing about style, we don’t all have to love the same thing! BUT, you should love the style of your wedding photographer! This should be a no brainer, If you are drawn to a certain style of coloring, you should base your search for a photographer off of that! Something I ALWAYS mention when I speak about wedding photography and color is this next part. If you want more natural editing in your photos, pick the season that matches those colors. If you want warmer colors, go for a fall date! Lots of vibrant yellows and pinks? Spring is where that’s at!

PRICING

Here’s the topic that everyone holds their breathe for…pricing! I’m a firm believer in my next sentence. You’ll walk away with only THREE things from your wedding… your spouse, the dress, and your wedding photos. If it is possible for your situation, SPLURGE on the choice of your wedding photographer! There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to budgeting for photography. What matters is that you feel confident in your photography investment! Don’t be afraid to ask your questions! Ask to see full galleries, what their day of process is, or even ask for references. Regardless of your photography budget, you should EXPECT these 3 things from your photographer... respect, professionalism, and passion.

BE A LIL BOSSY

We've made it to the big day! The groomsmen are already partying, the flowers are late, and we have a ring bearer in tears. Who's going to make this look good? The photographer is! Your photographer should be able to command a gang of groomsmen with the same tact and respect as with your grandparents who are visiting with the cousins. The only thing you should worry about on your wedding day is enjoying the day! The right photographer will guide everyone through poses, stick to the timeline, and be a fly on the wall during the special moments.

The photography from your wedding will be something you and your family can enjoy for many lifetimes. Ask the questions, trust your gut, and you'll find the perfect photographer for your special day!
